I CHANGED OVER TO 12VOLT THE AMP GAUGE SHOWS A DISCHARGE WITH THE KEY OFF.I LET IT SET FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THE LIGHT THAT REPLACES THE DIODE DOES NOT COME ON ANY MORE.THIS IS FOR A FORD 2N ANY IDEAS WHATS WRONG. THANKS FOR THE TIME.

Sorry, but without more information, no one wil be able to do anything other than guess, without more information.
Did it ever function correctly following conversion?
How is it wired? A schematic diagram?
What alternator are you using?
:?:

First, turn the caps lock off. It makes it hard to read.

One wire or three wire alternator? Or, what model alternator?

Post back w/ that info & the 12v guys will help you out.

I'm too poor to afford a 12v conversion; I clean battery terminals instead! :)

RDD......why does a discharging ammeter reading and a dead battery surprize you??? You don't suppose they're inter-related do you??? And why does it surprize you that a dead battery won't lite yer idiot lite???

Ennytime you have either a dead battery ...or... an alternator issue; take'em into a autoparts store for a "free" checkout. Simple, eh? ......respectfully, Dell, a 12-volt advocate for the right reasons

i didn't know it would draw with the key off.when i went to jump start it the light didn't come on.i had the the battery and alternator checked before i put them on. what would be causing it to draw with the key off? i don't have any lights hooked up yet.so its not that.it is a new switch too.
