I posted about this pto cover problem I am having the other day. The cover I bought appears to be too small. slips right past the threads on the tractor. The threads look fine. somebody suggested I got one for a fergie. Well I was wondering if someone could get me some measurements off the tractor and the cover too see if the tractor is damaged or if the cover is just too small. Thanks Brian

post a pic of what you got..

is this an oem cover for a 1 1/8 pto.. or the new 'universal' for cap that fits the 1 3/8

anything odd on your tractor like the large sae adapter that bolts on?

Hi here are some pics.Tractor still has the 1 1/8 pto.The cover is a universal not the OEM. As for anything odd I do not beleive so. I think it is all original. Brian

Brian.......hey, you already know its too small and since its a "cast" part its kinda hard to make it larger. And the PTO threads don't change either.

I made a PTO cover outta 4-in plastic toilet drain pipe floor adapter bolted to outside where the swinging chains attach around the PTO. Its 6-1/2" long and fits over my over running coupler (ORC) for my brushhogg. Simple, eh? ......Dell

brian, i have both original pto cover and an aftermarket. both measure about 2 9/16" diameter at the threads. however, the original is only 3" long and aftermarket cover is longer. i guess because the aftermarket 1 3/8" shaft protrudes farther out the back of the housing than the original 1 1/8" shaft. so my original cover will not engage the threads on the aftermarket pto housing. hth.

Dell, seems like I remember seeing a picture of your cover or somebody elses. can you get me a pic. I would appreciate it. post here or send to my email. Thanks Brian

Brian,

As I said, you HAVE purchased a PTO cover for a Fergie. 'M1' is a Ferguson part number suffix.
There's NO mystery here.

The TISCO on-line catalog shows the part # he has as fitting "ALL Ford models" and also shows the MF number.

Either TISCO is confused or somehow an "oddball" cap got tossed in that box.

I see a ref to a conversion shaft.. can we assume the tisco conversion shaft uses the same oem ford thread? ( probably.. but stil.. makes ya wonder.. )

Tisco prints their products with numbers that the product will fit. The first number is for ford and the second one is for ferg. That PTO cap is the correct one for either. If it don't fit, there is a problem with the threads of the housing.

Ok,Ok. I concede. All prior comments humbly retracted.

Put the TISCO factor into ANY problem and I'M out.

The ONLY thing I'LL use of their's is gaskets, and precious few of those WHEN I have to.
