i got a old 12 volt solenoid laying around my 6 volt went out i suppose i cant use the 12 volt solenoid on the 6 volt system

12 volt. solenoid will NOT work on a simple 6V. battery system.
If'n you want to start her.....hit the starter with the 12 volts. With a 6V. battery in the system, she should run.
If she quits.....you got a problem. John,PA
