I went to Kinzer PA. today to a large show. There were about 70 steam tractors! I also snapped 2 pics of this 8N dozer. Have any of you guys ever seen anything like this?

The 2N in the background is around serial#101,000 and has the long front axle pin for the crank support but all the electrical items were added after the war, it also has the 32" rear wheels to fit in the rows better which by 1941 were not common anymore, the high clearance unit was made by the tractor stilts co.

You guys should really learn how to reduce the file
size of your pictures!
A 640x480 is plenty for viewing.
You are killing me with this slow connection of mine here in the country.

What do the springs do on the front wheels? Is it used for shock loads to the tracks or something else?

I've never seen one in person, but here's a pic of one at the F/FCA show in Gray last year. I've always wondered how the braking/steering works on these units.

Personally, I'd rather have one of these -

Is that the right front wheel of one of those REALLY tall "high crop" 8N's?

Mikey

Yes. It is a 9n or 2n. I could hardly reach the underside of the rear axle.

I saw this at the Georgetown, Ohio meet.
It is not the same tractor as the one you saw.
I like the fender job on the one you saw.

Looks like an N with a flathead V8 in it (or an angle mounted 4 cylinder!).

It is a 8n V8, but the tractor was rough. Someone had taken off all the hydraulics and 3 point hitch off.
