12V and EI conversion nothing happens

So I wired everything per the diagram below. Checked 5 times and when I switch the key and press start button nothing happens. Also ammeter is staying on 2 amps no matter what I do. I hear like a quiet click coming from either the coil or distributor that's it. I wired positive from EI to positive/white on coil and black to negative on coil

Probably I should post more info. I have side distributor and ammeter. Brand new 12V battery. Below you can check my sketch on how I wired everything.

So far to troubleshot I have checked continuity on each wire. Checked continuity between terminals on resistor , ignition wires and battery cables. Also checked the battery and it's fully charged. Not sure what else to check for.

hose diagrams that you posted are all created by me & none have ET in them. Post your EI wiring diagram, the EI unit number, and whether tractor is 6v or 12v and whether the neg or pos battery post ties to tractor chassis.

I purchased this unit and whatever they said I need in the item description https://www.external_link/EIGN03-Electronic-Ignition-Conversion-Kit-12-volt-negative-ground-system
Positive cable goes from battery + to solenoid. And negative goes from battery - to tractor chassis (it was that way when the tractor was 6V)

there are two wires coming out of the EI. Red and black. Red I connected to positive on coil and black to negative

You have a 12 volt coil, get rid of the ballast resistor. Not your problem tho! I would check the thumb switch. pull back the black boot and use a screw driver to short the yellow wire to ground. Make sure you have the trans in neutral and the ignition switch off. You are just trying to see if it will turn over , not start.

ow is power getting to EI module?

Just curious, as it is after all YOUR tractor and you can do whatever the heck you want to it, but best to tell us if a front or side mount distributor up front and what
was wrong with OEM 6V/POS GRN setup you had? I assume it is a side mount by the Pictograms you posted. JMOR's Pictograms DO NOT COVER any EI system. Swapping 6V for 12V
is covered in his PICTOGRAMS. Did you use the Petronix EI kit? There are a few out there and some are better than others so it matters where you buy from. It also
matters how the system was wired before you started. Basic. A clicking on solenoid or nothing at all when safety start pushbutton is engaged usually means a weak or dead
battery. Might get it to a shop to test under load on their machine. Whether a GEN or an ALT is used, you must have a fan belt tension device fastened on it. If no belt
tension, you will never charge the battery. Some 12V conversion kits with an ALT don't include a belt tensioner. Understand that EI only eliminates the need for points.
If the system gets wired wrong, at first power-up you may let all the smoke out and guess what?

I just connected the two wires per instructions and what others did. Red EI wire to positive on coil and black EI wire to negative on coil

My 8N stays with the original setup.
A set of Echlin points from NAPA lasts me for years on my 52 8N that gets used several times a week.
I'll never go to the EI conversion.
I did convert to 12 volt many years ago.

I found the problem and I'm embarrassed to say that the gear was engaged. To be honest I didn't even knew this tractor have a safety feature as this one. Learning something new everyday

This is why you need to invest in the ESSENTIAL MANUALS if'N ya wanna be an N-Owner. Even if you jazz the electrical over with 12V and/or EI, the OEM Manuals have much,
much more info you need to gather in your brain. Safety and operation should be the 1st chapter before turning the key.

I will admit it that I think I have the owners manual from previous owner but hew did teach me and explain most of the things I need to know. Maybe it's time to go over everything in the manual. I'm not electrician but this is pretty simple wiring. I started to think I burn the starter or coil.
