12V Conversion/Coil

I have an 8N side mount that is running perfectly and has for years with a 12V conversion. It has no resistors. My question is, is there a 12V coil that is meant to be used this way or have I just been very lucky? It really doesn't get that much use.

The Ford Angle Drive (side mount) distributor never had a Ballast Resistor anyway. If it runs 'perfectly' now, the eons-old mantra applies "...if it ain't broke, no need to fix it...". Providing the wiring is done correctly for your 12V switch-over and standard PM is kept, there should be no problems. Why do you ask? Are you having issues now?
