12 Volt Battery for *N

I am having trouble finding the correct 12 volt battery for my 8N that will fit and be able to be correctly fastened. Can anyone help with a part # for NAPA, Wal-Mart ETC? Thank you for your time.

If I remember correctly, a Group 25 or 35 will fit.

SIZE 26R VALUMART purchased from my Walmart
12 volt top post, 540 cranking amps, has attached carry/lifting
handle which helps in placement.
I fabed up a universal hold down for mine.

GROUP 25 or 35 12V style is correct. I'm not sure if the OEM battery cover will fit but I know it will for the GP-1 6V battery. I also recommend to invest in a good brand of battery like DEKA, EAST PENN/DURACELL, INTERSTATE or EXIDE. Average price for a good brand is about $125. I suggest at least 650 CCA. Most bargain house brands have very low/poor lifespans. You can get a DELTRAN BATTERY TENDER at Wally World for about $30. It is a true float charger -which will prolong the battery life to 8 years or more. You keep it connected when the tractor is not used so the battery is kept fully charged and ready when needed. Note, I didn't say 'trickle charger' -they are two different animals. What diminishes battery life is the constant discharging and recharging. A float charger when connected and used correctly will prevent that. The DELTRAN brand is a very reliable and popular brand. Their 6V version is called the Battery Tender Jr.
