Hi all. I am planning on using my R Minnie Mo to run my roller mill, so i can get some use out of it. My question is do i need and overrun clutch for this application since it will be stationary pto work? We have used it to run augers in the past but they stop quickly when the clutch is disengaged, the roller mill will continue to spin. I havent run the mill on anything yet since i just got it and was thinking an overrun clutch would be good for my other tractors also, so they wouldnt stop the mill too quickly and cause damage.

Thanks for the replys. I think im going to go ahead and get an over run clutch. I may use this tractor for some other things and not remember the pto is engaged and regret it.

I agree with Harvey 2. It's got to be easier on the tractor and equipment even though someone else didn't have any problems without it. You might even find yourself using it for more equipment than you planed on.

There has been many tractor transmissons ruined by not using an over ride clutch.
You can get by not using one, but for what they sell for it would be foolish to not use one.
I have seen the results of tractors getting pushed into the fence or buildings when the operator wanted to stop and didn't have the over-ride clutch, the tractor keep going till the rotary cutter stopped spinning.

We ran a UB on a feed grinder and rotary cutter for years without an overrunning clutch. No problems.
