rtr 01-29-2013 08:33:15 216.226.179.180 Report to Moderator	I have been called upon to come and look at 3 tractors a guy inherited from his dad's estate. He has a Farmall M with Wide Front, a Minneapolis Moline UTU, and a Minneapolis Moline UBE with wide front. If I understand correctly, these tractors have been sitting in a barn for around 25-30 years; and one of the MM tractors has been sitting outside. My question is.....I really don't have the TIME to restore these tractors (because I have over 50 Farmalls); BUT I would LOVE to restore them, or get them running condition at least. I THINK he will be asking scrap price for them (he says he doesn't want to send them to scrap); so what do you all think??? I wanted to ask you guys since you know these tractors so well. I know I could probably part them out for much more but that takes time and as I've found out with Farmalls, there are so many parts out there that it takes much longer than expected. Question 2 is what are the 2 tractors worth in present condition, as parted out, and in restored condition?? Are they rare or hard to find? THANKS! [Reply]   [No Email]

He also has the Farmall M with wide front if anyone is intrested, plus some big heavy tractor equipment for them. He's asking the same price for it also. Someone in his family is a scrap guy so he isn't worried about hauling them cause he'll pick them up. He already told me that he didn't want to scrap them, but would do that if they weren't sold. I think he'll have a way to load it all, but am not sure. I'll post them in the classifides section, but his contact info is Bob Plaster 334-868-9446 (home) and 334-285-6836 (cell). But I do own 2 MMs and 4 Farmalls of that same vintage. As you have a good collection of Farmalls, you have a pretty good idea of what they are worth in the condition which you see the MMs in. The U MM tractor was the market competitor for the Farmall M, and the UB competed against the Super M. As I see it, the prices in unrestored condition are comparable to what the M or SM would bring. However for the newcomer to MMs, you will find restoration parts much harder to find and are probably more expensive. Many parts are just NLA, including the oil filters, so modifications need to be made. The MMs had some nice features compared to the M & SM, and more cubic inches so it might pull a bigger plow or disc, but nobody much cares about that for restoration. As with all tractors of this vintage, condition is everything, and the tire costs are a biggie. I paid $1000 for my UBE in running condition with usable tires with a MM loader about 5 years ago, but in today's market, I'd say that was too much. Of course the values vary with location. As for the MM's a non running UTU in the condition shown would be hard to justify more than $400-500 in my mind - too many out there - probably stuck and even if not it would cost too much to restore unless it had sentimental value. I've got one that looks about the same bought for $400 several years back semi-running - still sitting out waiting for I don't know what - stuck now - too many more interesting projects. As to the UTS - if its a UTS Special on LP and indoors and not stuck or cracked block, maybe $900 but thats a stretch in my mind. I would think closer to $600-700 on that one too unless its better than it looks. [Reply]  [No Email]

I realize they can be parted for more than $900, but that is not what I want to have to do. I'd like to get them at a good price to get running and possibly restore. I talked to the guy who owns them (for the first time) and he said he is wanting $900 each for the 3 tractors. From what he was saying....he doesn't know much about them and has no use for them. He said his brother in law is a scrap guy and he didn't want to have to call him to get the tractors. I told him absolutely not. From what I could find on tractordata.com and based upon my guess of about $0.10 per pound scrap. I estimated a little over $1,800 for the 3 tractors scrap value. I asked him (without seeing them) over the phone if he'd take $600 each for them, and he said absolutely not. Then I told him I would have to set up a time to see what he actually has and the condition. He preceeded to tell me he could send me some pictures in the meantime. Here is what he sent me. ........ You get new parts from an Agco-White dealer. Used parts should be an easy find. The UT may have been MM's most produced tractor. The UB is similar to the UT except for the clutch an operator platform. I have parts/repair and operator manuals for both tractors. I also have lots of parts. I live in Texas. Where are you located? There may be someone in that area that is looking for a complete tractor. UTUs are fairly common but UBEs are a little more rare. I wouldnt mind having one myself. (Being you have Farmalls....do you happen to have or know of an add on power steering set up for sale for a Super M? I have a neighbor that is looking for one for his) [Reply]  [No Email]
