I believe its more than likely just carried over again and again from when they started MM. GTA...GTB..GB..GVI..etc. The "G" series was always their biggest tractor. Then it became more of a series when the G900 appeared with the G1000 Vista...then the 50 series with the G950 1050 and 1350.. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken. |

| I'd say your completely right. Just like the new John deeres they have the "r" series which doesn't mean anything to my knowledge and the "rt" but the t stands for track but don't think the r means anything. Minneapolis moline just liked using letters instead of numbers most brands have numbers and they had mostly all letter models |

| I think the r in a JD is like a Platinum in a Ford pickup. The lower the letter the lower level of hyd and trans options and trim level in the Cab. |
