Gary C S 12-04-2012 09:02:20 67.142.177.22 Report to Moderator	we have no fenders,fluid,or weights.we do have wheelie bars. tractor weighs 4000 lbs with about 200lb driver.we were wandering how much weight we would lose by removing belt pulley and pto? we would like to see if it can get to 3500 lbs with driver,without to much more trouble. has 12.4/38 rubber would like to go to 13.6/38 any thoughts if that will help much. seems like we have plenty of power. Ran without pto, belt pulley and drive, starter, and fan. We used a plastic electric fan. Anyplace that has a cast plate was covered with aluminum. We cut the trans cover right up to the shifter and used aluminum. We cut off all cast mounting brackets like cultivator and fender mounts. We ground off a lot of cast iron in places. We ran without tubes in the tires. We were running steel wheels but cut as much steel out of the centers as we could get away with. Our next step was to spring for some aluminum rims. I think the belt pulley drive is good for a few more, not to mention the pulley itself. If fenders are required, use the late R fenders. They look great, bolt on, and are much lighter. Run about half the required oil in the tranny. A "red nose" from a ZT is much lighter than the heavy cast tanks and radiator on the ZA. You may not want to change that for looks reasons. The ZT is really a bit lighter. I'm assuming all the hydraulics are already off the tractor. ZAS/ZTS/JTS axles, housings, and hubs are much narrower, therefore much lighter. I'd bet half the weight. My friend did this (minus axle housings) to his ZA and had it to 3600 or so. 3500 takes a bit more work and works much better with a ZT. The lightest I've seen is a 3000# ZT, but it's pretty tricked out. BTW, some brands and styles of tires (and wheels) are ligter than others. That's all I can think of right off the top of my head.
