Has anyone found a place to get an oil filter for a UTS special? Mine has the filter in the pan so I can't use a spin on adapter. Engine tag # 283C-4 |

Tom Barnes @ Henry Leasing had some filters made that should work. They are KE5905. I think they were about $17. Give him a try, beats changing everything out. -Doug

Is the center hole in the napa filter 1118 the same as the original filter? Just wondering if the original retaining nut will work as is.

I've looked all over for one for my UB Special diesel, with no luck. What I have learned though, is that a filter for a 670 can be made to work with a little engineering. I think they are shorter than the Special filters so you need a spacer to hold it tight to the back of the canister. I haven't tried it because it turns out that mine is missing the canister and original filter from inside the pan. At some point someone drilled into the main oil galley from the outside and mounted a homemade spin on adapter set up. So my remedy is to swap the pan and pump from a straight UB diesel, and the filters are available for that. Not original, but will work. How does the Special system work? I don't see in the pictures where the oil flows through the canister?

Here some pics of the cover. The oil flows into the cover, then thru a gallery to the filter, then out of the filter thru a return hole back to the pan. I believe I have the flow direction correct , but could be wrong. Maybe someone else can verify.

I had the same problem a while back. If you have a lathe you can make two adaptor that will fit the napa 1118 filter this is very simple with very little machining project. If any wants the drawing email me
