The starter on my 605 decided to quit at a pull on Labor day. Took it to an electrical shop yesterday- got the estimate today- $275-295. Seems real high to me. How involved can this be, and what should it cost?

I don't remember all the details off hand but the starter I had off a 670 super diesel needed a rebuild, and the shop I go to said it was cheaper to buy a new Delco than have the original rebuilt. This is a shop I've done business with for years, good old boys lol. So I can believe it.

I'm gonna stop by the shop on Friday to take a look- I expect to see a lot of bad parts to justify that expense.

Talked to the shop owner Friday- The armature was bad, and no parts available, so it had to be rewound. Few shops do that now, so it had to be sent to Chicago for the work. It"s a lot of money, but looks like I don"t have much choice. Hope he"s done by the weekend...
