Levi Gibson 08-31-2012 21:18:31 65.165.4.68 Report to Moderator	i am in the process of building a GVI with a 605hd gas engine in it i cant get more than 1800 rpm out of this pierce governor. my u i lighted the flyweights to get mor R"s but not sure if that is proper on this one or do you put a stronger spring on it. it seems like i dont have a smooth increase in rpm"s either its either on or off any help is appriciated [Reply]   [No Email]

The high speed screw was adjusted as far as it could be. I took a piece of wire and tied about three coils together on the governer spring and got the rps up where they were supposed to be. Levi Gibson 09-01-2012 13:26:01 65.165.4.68 Report to Moderator	Re: gvi governor not working properly and need more RPM's in reply to Levi Gibson, 08-31-2012 21:18:31   that is the old style governor that is used on the u and g models i am building a puller and this governor has an external spring that is tightend up by pulling the throttle seems to get tight but the tractor opens up to 1800 and then slows back down to about 1500 and doesnt open back up very quick this is a peirce governor that i am using [Reply]  [No Email]

You need to get more spring tension so the weghts will govern the engine but at a higer speed. Can you post the governor breakdown or a piture? Guido. [Reply]  [No Email]

Are you building a puller? You said that it is not working right? Explain! The RPM's are controlled by the high speed adjusting screw. The more the governor travels the more speed.Another way to get more R.P.M.'S is to just cut about 1/4 of the stock spring, where the coils are the lightest, and make up the difference with washers. It will make the throttle respond much quicker with the same amount of the original travel. The spring and the weights oppose and are in contact with each others, so there is no gap between the spring and the governor's weghts-actuator. The enigne may surge if it is not set up this way, that the reason for the washers. Guido. [Reply]  [No Email]
