Finally going to start building my MM puller. I have a few questions. First off I will be pulling dead weight, am I better off with the UB or UTU?second off, I am changing the jugs, heads, crank and cam from a GB LP. What do I do to space the jugs enough/what is the clearance I need? Also while its apart should I get the cam ground for more power(Just want to run 93 oct. gas, and would still like it to run smooth). Any recommendations for a shop or just go to a local machine shop? Also thinking of changing to pressed steel rims/centers. Any recommendations for tire size? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris |

| I like the UB, You can see better, beter brakes, and I just think they look nicer. It sounds like you have a propain g for parts. Why not just put the whole engine in? The idea behind pressed steel wheels is to loose weight. If your wanting to make it lighter thats where i would start, As far as the cam goes I have mixed feelings. I think cam grinders are like used car salesmen. The will sell you whatever it is they have handy. If you can find a good grinder, one that understands your not working on a small block chevy and you dont turn 8500 he may be able to do you some good, but it sounds to me like you are going to have a basic 403 with compression. I put togeter a 4 3/4 by 7 engine for a ub last winter with a stock cam and a set of murphy rocker arms and we feal that its as good as any. Im sure the critics, those who have never built an engine will disagree, but thats where im at. As far as the fit on the pistons, loose is fast. With oem pistons I like to run a little looser than the high end of spec. |
