 Previous owner welded angle irons of deck plate to rear case and bolts in place also. Is this common? Looks like its been this way long time. My question should I be concerned? I am concerned that if I cut welds may find bolt holes all stripped I have case stripped .I guess wosrt case would be finding another case but trying to restore with all original castings. I need some advise and thoughts!!!! T.I.A. Picture encluded |

| Thank you for the very nice comment , Tony. I have been around M M s sence I was in my twenties. I am hopeing to make it to 75 in Dec. But still learning about M M s and other brands. We have about 8 Molines now. We have had Molines all the time we were farming. Thanks again and keep us posted about your "U" . clint |

| Oleclint, I'll keep posting.Love to share with those that care. I grew up in my very early years with Moline.(when Dealer sold out) Then my Dad and neighbors went to I.H. because of a wonderful dealer. Then that dealer sold out and we started having problem with new dealer and started switching to J.D. I am near 67 yrs old and I am trying to restore all the tractors that broke my dads land and I grew up with and learned to farm with. Its a labor of love and honor for my past. I am getting close. I am still farming (probably until I die) and my herd consits of L.A.Case 1945 L.P. 1945 "H",1952 UTN MM L.P.,1954 farmall SMTA L.P.,1955 Farmall 400,1958 Farmall 560.(Last tractor my Dad purchased before passing)Those tractors built our ranch and formed Me. Currently farm Almond Orchards and Low profile J.D.'s do the job. Regards, Tony |

| I had looose bolt problems with my 50 UTU in the late 1950 s. Threads were ok , but could not keep bolts tight. Did not have locktight then.Tightened up the bolts and welded them. No more problems. Pulling a field culti. or a fertilizer buggy seemed to loosen the bolts the quickest untill they were welded. B T W. I still have that "U" . If I were you , I would weld the bolts and not worry about them. Good luck with your restoration . clint |

| I think the bolts keep coming loose so someone welded the heads so they wouldent come loose.I didnt see any weld on the case its self, stumper |

| Yes Stumper, bolts are welded and angles are welded on for cornors. Sorry I did not take pics.of other side.but thats easy part to grind off ,its the bolts that scare me. In restoring this my question is .should I leave or should I go in and remove welds and take my chances that bolt holds are stripped bad. Is this a common problem on U's Anybody have experience with same situation?? T.I.A. Tony |
