When displaying at an antique tractor show, is it offensive to hook a "green and yellow" planter to my MM R? |

| I agree with the others. there is NO correct. While for a show it would look nice to have an implement of the same brand & era of the tractor, any implement looks better than just a tractor in my opinion. On our farm as a kid, rarely did the implement being pulled happen to be the same brand as the tractor pulling it. |

| My Dad always said no one company makes the best of every implement! In the 30s and 40s we had Rock Island and Huber tractors. Janesville Plow, EB manure spreader,David Bradly Disk, Rock Island Rotary Hoe, Tower Cultivater, Sandwich elevater, Case Osborne Binder, Huber Threashing Machine, JD Corn Sheller, MM harvester Jr Combine, New Idea Picker, and a IHC Potatoe Digger. Dad bought his first new tractor in 1948 a Z with 4row Cult. MMDEL PS Having said all this. One of my pet peeves is to see a tractor at a show with a bunch of wrong decals. or in the wrong places, or plastered with every decal in the kit because it was sent in the kit for different years of manufacture. If the tractor or implement was modifide or something added to make it fit the user, No Problem. |

| while 98% of 'correct police' have their head in a dark place, and 50% of those are at least 20 years younger than the tractor there picking at [ so how would they know how it was from the factory?] iv never run across a farmer who had only 1 brand of impliments on his farm back in the day some was converted horse drawn stuff, because he already owned it, some was one brand because either he got a deal on it or it was better than the one made by the manufacture of his tractor ect, so a mm hooked to a different color of impliment would have been a perfectly normal period setup |

| "L" No do it man do it. We all know that equipment is getting harder to find now days to save and show no matter what brand. We also all know that what was a very good product for one company was what another one could build right. I.E a plow or a planter. So go for it man and let them see it that way. |

| RP1555, I know how you feel about your bad expierence with your tractor needing to be moved. I went thru a deal like that about 38 yrs. ago our little Oliver tractor. I got over it , but will never forget it. I have always said , bring your tractor or whatever, if it is restored or not , just show it! For the "Correct Police" ask them where there tractor is or how many restored tractors they have. |

| we never had any matched brands of equipment to the tractor,it is nice to see someone take time to show something like that. I was at a show where oliver was featured and proud to display my G-750.I was out looking at the show when it was annouced on the P.A. that the owner of the MM tractor needs to move it from the olivers at once!I thought my friends pranked me,NOT SO the show director was very serious,I said if I move it ,it goes on the truck and I will never be back!a group of the oliver gang got things strait and I enjoyed the show ,but I won't forget that day. |

| | Wow.... I cant even believe that. That is horrible for so many reasons. First off, at a tractor show all brands are ok. Secondly, a G-750 is basically an Oliver! and a rare one at that! I bet the people who wanted it moved were probably just jealous they don't have a MM G-750. I know I am. The oliver people I have met have been much kinder. Actually, all of the antique tractor community has always been nice to me at shows, pulls, etc |

| rp1555, I was at that show and heard that announcement! My first thought was what idiot is making that request? Sounds like the show director was a little to big for his britches. Glad the Oliver guys stood behind you. It's what this hobby is about. Having fun with old tractors and equipment not matter what color. I enjoy all makes and brands but I do have my favorites =;pBrian |

| | In my opinion there are too few plows, discs, spreaders, or other implements at tractor shows. They are just as much a part of tractor history as tractors themselves but too much effort for most to restore or transport compared to the tractor itself which you can drive. I say bring all your implements regardless of color - if you are willing to take the trouble most will appreciate your effort. If someone comments negatively (unlikely), ask them how many MM implements they brought. |

| I don"t beleive anyone who knows about farming in the past would say anything. We use to pull an oliver plow all day with our 350 international. pulled a 494a john deer corn planter with our h farmall, pulled a JD disc with everything on the farm. we never used our MM R much but it pulled alot of hay wagons this was my favorite. Now I own a dozen MM and don"t farm. |
