Take care of that muffler , new repos are not cheap. The mess in the steering box looks about normal after settting out in the weather for a long time. When putting it together , make sure the gasket under the metal plate seals good to keep water and dirt out. Good luck with the cranking shaft removal.NAPA should have all the seals that you will need.I rebuilt a RTU frt end 3 yrs.ago, not to bad a job. Biggest prob was finding the two bearings on the worm shaft, odd ball brgs.Email if you want to . clint

The steering box surprised us it was full of water and everthing was rusted solid. Managed to get worm gear off,but the crank rod and big bearing nut is going to be fun they are pretty nasty with rust. Engine is loose we turned it over twice before popping fan belt. But from old dirt and old oil around breathers lead me to think its pretty wore out, must have had lot of blow by?? Let you know when I finish bathing her. Tony

That is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the "extra" oil around the breathers. I think most of the steel plates under the radiator (one that covers the front end) on the U-UBs ended up rusting out. To me, for its age, on the outside, the tractor looks good.
