Worth that if it has good tires and decent paint the condition you are talking it would bring around a $1000 to $1250 on public market

Maybe you could paint and decal it and take it to some tractor shows, and parades.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, you can get some great information here, thats what the forum is for, we were all new at this one time. You can search the archives and benefit from others problems and mistakes. One of the best things about this hobby is the down to earth, friendly, willing to help, people you meet. Good luck ssss

| | Is it possible to put a loader on a U. Also my Uncle always called it the U. He has been dead for 10+ years and I have the tractor stored. I think it is a 49 but how do I tell if it is a U or one of the other U"s like UB, UTS,UTU, ect. It has a wide front. A platform you can stand on. I guess I need to start from scratch and get it identified so I know what I have. He farmed for 40 years and bought the tractor new. In the end he had 20+ tractors but the U was the only one he ever bought new. Anyway thanks for any help and I will try to get more info. when I can. WS |

Get the serial number off the side of the transmission (below your right leg as you sit on it) and we could find your "U". As far as loaders go, tractors are not the most efficient means of moving material around, and for the most part I think loaders are hard on tractors and personally would not add one on. It is entirely up to you. Welcome to the dark side!

The tin on the tractor is in fair shape figuring the work it has done over the years. What type of value does a UTS have in the selling market? I see one disadvantage of it is the size. It’s little tougher to trailer around as some of the smaller models. I personally have always liked the U and is the reason that I bought it at the auction back in 1994. Now years later I live on 2.5 acres and a tractor of this size is a little big. Part of me would like to restore it and the other part questions why I would.

How much it is worth or how much you will have to put into it during restoration depends on wether or not the motor is stuck. I definitely would not sell if it has any sentimental value. They make fun projects.

It has been started and driven just about every year. At this point tires are looking pretty cracked and paint is a little rough. I guess as far as the engine goes I have no idea if or what problems there are. When it runs there is not much for smoke so I think it is pretty good.

| | I am close to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I don't have any pictures of it and I am guessing it would be awhile before I did. I have it stored at my Sisters farm an hour north of me. As far as selling it goes I still don't know what it is worth. Probably more to me than it would be to others. |

Anyone like to guess what kind of money a 1950 UTS would bring? I was thinking it had to be worth at least $2000

Well, well, well. I also live south of Minneapolis. Shakopee to be exact. You are correct in thinking that a 50 UTS is worth $2000, if it has really good metal and runs very well. A restored one might be worth $2500. Send me an email if you want to chat in person...
