Also my Uncle always called it the U. He has been dead for 10+ years and I have the tractor stored. I think it is a 49 but how do I tell if it is a U or one of the other U"s like UB, UTS,UTU, ect. It has a wide front. A platform you can stand on. I guess I need to start from scratch and get it identified so I know what I have. He farmed for 40 years and bought the tractor new. In the end he had 20+ tractors but the U was the only one he ever bought new. Anyway thanks for any help and I will try to get more info. when I can. WS [Reply]  [No Email]

As far as loaders go, tractors are not the most efficient means of moving material around, and for the most part I think loaders are hard on tractors and personally would not add one on. What type of value does a UTS have in the selling market? I see one disadvantage of it is the size. It’s little tougher to trailer around as some of the smaller models. I personally have always liked the U and is the reason that I bought it at the auction back in 1994. Now years later I live on 2.5 acres and a tractor of this size is a little big. Part of me would like to restore it and the other part questions why I would. [Reply]  [No Email]

At this point tires are looking pretty cracked and paint is a little rough. I guess as far as the engine goes I have no idea if or what problems there are. I don't have any pictures of it and I am guessing it would be awhile before I did. I have it stored at my Sisters farm an hour north of me. Shakopee to be exact. You are correct in thinking that a 50 UTS is worth $2000, if it has really good metal and runs very well. A restored one might be worth $2500.
