Working on re-assembly for my MM BG (Avery). Want to know if I can put the clutch cover assembly that has the throw-out and linkage into tractor before adding engine. I'm aware the bellhose and clutch have to go on before engine can be installed. Just wondering why the clutch shaft couldn't just be aligned to clutch as engine assembly is going in when it's ready. I'm doing this to be easier to connect drive shaft and drop in pin and also hook up clutch linkage to pedal. What ya think?

I tried that last winter on a BF.
If you have one frame rail off you can do it the way you describe-hooking the clutch shaft to the drive shaft and start the clutch together as you drop the engine in.
Otherwise, you will have to cut the notch where the bell housing slides in the frame about 3" to 4" longer to the front. At least that is what I had to do to this BF.
you need the radiator off and the front motor mount loose so it ca pivot toward the front too.
at least that is what it took for this BF.

Yeah my frame is cut out more, both ways, so figured it would work. No rad on now, and can unbolt or loosen one side, which I think is gonna be needed. I just tried the bellhose between the rails and it needs tiny bit more room before IT will drop in even. Motor mount not in yet. Thanks, think I'll try it that way then.

Had a chance to operate BG Friday. it does have frame rails cut out more than the other tractor which I mistakenly called a BF, Its actually an Avery R.
