D.Miller 02-05-2005 17:39:15 204.111.98.240 Report to Moderator	I went to look at what I thought was a Minneapolis Moline corn sheller today,it looked like a model D or E,the tag that I found says that it is a Ottawa Line Model EE Serial#19310,can anyone tell me anything about the Ottawa Line Company and if there is any relationship between Ottawa and Minneapolis Moline. I have been told that the MM sheller had an automatically adjusting gate which controlled the flow of corn thru the shelling unit. This allowed the sheller to do a great job independent of the volume being shoved thru. On the other hand, I was told that the Ottawa had a manually adjustable gate. You had to match the gate opening to the corn input. If you were significanty above or below this nominal thru-put, the shelling would suffer. Is this correct? [Reply]  [No Email]

Page 16 and 17 describe the spring loaded damper and adjustable shutter at the output of the cylinder. Instructions say to adjust damper spring and shutter opening to remove all kernels from the cob, but not to chop the cobs into small pieces and get cob particles in the shelled corn. I assume this is the automatic gate you mentioned. I've never seen an Ottawa sheller so don't know about it. My dad wore out 3 Model E shellers and don't remember him ever doing much adjusting once he got it set. [Reply]  [No Email]
