Did I install my seals...

....backwards? Working on put`n back together the steering housing on our TO35. Just read dljohnson`s inquiry & now I`m scratch`n my head. I put the garter spring to the inside, Black part outside. The bottom gear(left clutch side)is leak`n a bit.....BTW, three cs, found a wormgear & played the ball bearing game....& WON!!!...lol
...fact, heres a little info for EVERY1, theres 60 BB`s that go in that sucker....where I got it (Sikeston salvage)said they called Massey & they didn`t know how many...anyway, `preciate know`n if I put those seals in Right or wrong....thanks again....

Well, then I put them in right, thats good but the bottom seal(for the left side)is leaking?!?!?Just checked to make sure their both the same seals & they are...833 455 M1.Any ideas how to stop this leak....appreciate any guidance

over time seals will ware a grove in the shaft so it will not seal as well put the seal a little deeper or shallower should help

Well, I used a round punch that I grinded the end flat,`probly 1/4" round, & lightly tapped it, ALL the way in though.Would maybe using my pocket knife(thick blade)be able to pry it out just enough to get out of the groove?JUST thought of this, the front tires were out of line, towed out & bad camber,`fact we`re think`n thats why the wormgear broke...Thank you again for your help Marlowe & any others that may have an idea...
