Davis / Case D-100 Mini Backhoe

Please see the attached page from the User's Manual. Part ID #19 is the orifice in question.

My "swing axis" moves way too fast. Here is the adjustment procedure from the manual:

"If boom swing is faster than desired, speed can be adjusted by removing swing cylinder tubes at the control valve. Using a screw driver, remove fixed orifices from ports. Holes in orifices can be closed by laying orifice on solid object and partially closing holes with a blunt punch."

This seems a bit drastic! Anyone had any experience doing this? Any pointers? Thanks!

Certainly seems a little drastic but I guess if that's all there is, it must be right. You'd need to be sure that no bits could come loose from the orifices after you'd "doctored" them, could be catastrophic in the hydraulics. If you spoke to a local hydraulics company, you might either be able to buy more restrictive orifices or even flow control valves to be able to adjust the speed.I know mine travels a little fast and I have to concentrate on not pulling the lever too hard or too quickly.

Off topic, do you have any information on the bearing below the pinion driven by the rack on the swing cylinders, please? Mine has collapsed and I can't read the part number and I don't have a manual for it. Also these are a little rare in New Zealand and information is hard to find.
