Hi Everyone,
The continuing saga of the MF35 Industrial with 100 loader and 220 backhoe.
The gas tank leaks. When I did the new manifold job I located a tensile break in about 3" long on a curved part of the underside sorta near the filter/sediment flange. I cleaned it up real nice and ran a perfect weld on in. Painted the whole thing real nice. That was in January.
I put it back on and went on my merry way. It started to leak just a little mid Feb. I went out there yesterday and it was dripping gas. After I lit up a cigarette, rubbed a glass cylinder on some wool and did some steel grinding nearby, I pulled the tank I think the flange is leaking now. So, I am getting a new one. But I have some questions for you guys.
1. This one is more academic. I have a 189209M91, roughly, since mine has no fuel gauge sending unit hole, not even a hint of one. Did they originally make them with and without? Would that identify my tank as original on a gas Utility?
2. The gas cap that was on it when I bought it allowed gas to run out swishin and a swashin as you drove it. I got a new cap. Fits great, but is unvented in the pressurized tank direction--leading to a respectful build up of press in the tank. Is this the wrong cap design? Because my thought is if it's supposed to hold pressure, then there goes the reason for the rupture mentioned above.
3. What is the lowest cost new tank that will "fit"? I saw some that looked like they were for Diesel or short block gas lower than the proper replacement. I can't find anything under $200 with shipping. And I need to be 150 or lower. I have a 49 8N tank, ON the 8N... which I was thinking ::might:: fit.
That tank pressurization... that there is odd to me
And we appreciate it here in NC for any guidance you can render.
