Discontinued parts for 1135

Rebuilding a leaking hydraulic steering box on the 1135. I rebuilt the failed pistons, rings and cylinders, so steering is now restored.
There is still a leak, must be the vertical steering shaft seal and/or bearing. There is fluid flow in and out of the box, so the lower seal is the culprit. I haven't checked to see if the outlet back to the hyd reservoir is blocked, as that could force oil out...probably seal is just plain ol' shot.

MF has discontinued part # 833233M1, the lower roller bearing. No bearing house, so far, can cross it over to a standard bearing, as they often can (the top bearing is a SCE3228 at half the price).

So I'm sure the last of these bearings on Earth has been used, so any hints on how to find one? Even the Parts guys on YT can't find it....

Is the bearing bad? Long as it turns well and keeps the shaft centered the seal should hold back oil IF the shaft has no pits where the seal lip rides.

Are you just trying to go by the MF number, or did you give actual dimensions to your bearing house? I have yet to run across a bearing in any of the obscure things I've worked on that couldn't be found by dimensions.

I also can't imagine MF decided to use a proprietary design. That would just increase their cost on something that isn't likely worth the effort.

Obviously YMMV

I usually assume that if the seal is bad, there's an issue with the bearing...Haven't pulled it yet, lining up the parts for limited down time.

I have back-traced parts before but this item has me stumped.

I just put lower seal and brass bushing on verticle shaft. There are two types of units, one that is tricycle ready with bolt holes all around bottom of verticle shaft to bolt narrow front to, and a verticle shaft with just 3 holes to bolt steering arm to for a wide front. seal and bushing were available for wide front axle version, but parts are not available for the narrow front unit. The narrow front version has a roller bearing and the wide front only has a brass bushing. I don't think its possible to covert them for they use different housings.

That's interesting, this is a wide front 1135. i thought that I would find or make a bronze bushing once I got it apart and was sure there was not replacement available. So maybe it's the bushing I want and that's actually available. Thanks for the shout!

(quoted from post at 02:56:40 07/10/21) Note that some wide front tractors will have the narrow front ready verticle shaft.
Yes, that's the other variant called the Western, I believe....

I see the difference is in the flange holes on the vertical spindle.

In the AGCO parts books, that is accurately drawn.
