Distributor issues

I own an mF35 serial number SGF 240344. Several years ago I replaced the distributor cap, purchased from a local repair/parts store. The distributor cap did not fit; was too large. I returned to the store and the guy told me "??You have a Ford style distributor" and gave me different cap, points, and condensor.

The tractor has been sitting for about 10 years and I want to get it running. The parts store is no longer in business. Can anyone help me drtermine what parts I need?

You should have the Continental z134 engine and there may still be a name plate on the engine to verify this. For a distributor cap, you can buy the correct one on this site and there are 2 listed. A clip on version and a screw on version. Just choose the right one for your tractor.

Since it has been sitting for 10 years, there may be additional issues from just sitting. If it were me, I would remove the plugs and add some oil to cylinders and then manually turn the engine just to loosen things up. Post what you run into and I'm sure others will guide you.

I don't think I have the common distributor... I'm trying to determine what I have

I can't post photos, but here are links to three

You have the early style Delco distributor with the clip on cap.
Part # 1750411M91 Dist Cap
Part # 1750875M1 Rotor
Part # 839012M91 Points, and Condenser Set

I'm not sure that your distributor is original. Your SF35 serial SN SGF 240344 should have the same distributor as my tractor. Although mine is older (1958 vs 1963), they had the same distributors and mine looks different. The bottom section of yours looks more rounded than mine. It may be a manufacturing difference or it's possible yours was changed and that is why you had trouble finding the right one. These distributors also have a dust cap which fits under the rotor and covers the entire distributor. In my picture its the piece just under the cap with the notch in it. Without that piece, the cap won't fit. The part number for the cover is DR-426 (Standard) or U314 (ACDelco) or RR164 (NAPA).

After much searching I think that my distributor is

TISCO DISTRIBUTOR, P/N 182852M91-TP

Anyone familiar with this item? Are there any identifying markings?

The tune up kit for a TISCO distributor the YT store has looks right for your distributor. Their part number is MFDISKITA. The TISCO number for a kit without rotor or cap appears to be ATK10DS. So far I haven't had any luck crossing them to Standard Blue Streak or Echlin as they are listed as kits, I haven't found separate numbers for the points or condenser.

I almost wonder if that distributor is for a industrial engine power unit (like a forklift, engine driven welder, generator, water pump, etc) rather than one that was used be Massey Ferguson.

Here is a link to a Tisco catalog that gives replacement part numbers for your distributor.

https://www.smalink.com/customer/somkaf/customerpages/Files/Catalog/MasseyFerguson2012.pdf

It lists a Tisco distributor cap # MF12106A. Searching for cross references I come up with a Standard Parts distributor cap # FD-128.

See my post above. It does look like the TISCO replacement distributor 182852M91-TP. The metal body looks right. The points and rotor look like the ones in the YT stores tune up kit for that distributor. If you can find a parts store that will try matching the points I expect it can be done, if you have your parts in hand to compare the new ones to. The points may well match some of the GM ones. Using some of the other numbers it looks like John Deere 1010s had those same points in the Delco screw held cap distributors, part number AR 31818.

Welcome to the forum. This thread is for a MF35 (First line of first post), not a 245.

I suggest you start a new post with all the pertinent info about your tractor and exactly what you are looking for or problem. Mixing your issues in with someone else's often ends up confusing both both the posters and those who respond.

Also you can go to the AGCO Parts Books on line and find the parts catalog for your tractor so you can have the manufacturer's part numbers when you need to do search. Click on this link to go to the website. https://apb.agcocorp.com/login.aspx?region=NorthAmerica

Again welcome and enjoy the site, there is a lot of help available here.

From this catalog https://www.smalink.com/customer/somkaf/customerpages/Files/Catalog/MasseyFerguson2012.pdf

required parts are

FET12300A Condenser
MF12106A Cap
MF12200A Rotor
MF12171AA Points

Searching on these part numbers it appears that this distributor uses the same parts as an 8N side mount distributor.

Thanks to all for me helping me chase this down
