56 Massey Harris 444 gear oil amount

Good day,Im new to tractors and recently purchased a 56 MH 444 gas model serial# 72214 with a FEL and Im tring to find out how many liters of 80-90w gear oil the transmission requires? TIA for any help. Harold

Do you mean 8 liters or 8 US gallons ? I have drained the really milky oil in there and have filled two five gallon pails.Im thinking you mean 8 gallons.

Probably means 8 gallons. There should be an oil level check plug on the right side
of the trans, behind the pulley.....it's there on a 44 but a 444 might be different
with the 10 speed.Ben

The 8 gals makes sence,the 10 gals I drained is maybe overfill and water,it was a very milky light cream colour. Thanks,Harold

according to the Massey data book, it requires 13 US gallons.

13 rings a bell as far as my 44 Special goes, would think a 444 would be similar.

I have a 58 444 . I have a copy of the owners manual. as per manual : The capacity of the transmission and differential is 13 US gallons. The compartments have a common level and may be filled by
removing plug located at left front side of transmission housing.
