Advice please, I am getting diesel in the sump of my MF 35, 4 cylinder. I have replaced the fuel pump, even though there wa no suggestion of a split diaphragm. This has not helped. What should I be looking ar next?

Hi, for an older tractor like the 23c the lift pump would be the most likely source. Second in line would be the main pump. At the front of the DPA pump there is a shaft seal. After time these seals will age-harden and/or split. In your case it is likely to be allowing fuel to pass into the drive housing and to the sump(oil pan). I have never replaced one of these seals. They have been done by my diesel repairer usually with a part overhaul bill to go with it.

As David said, injection pump drive hub seal. Have been seeing more of them leaking lately. Last pump I tore down the seal was extremely hard and brittle, causing the fuel leak into the oil.
