I have a 85 I am cleaning up and going thru. It doesn"t have a filter in the power steering cartridge up by the battery box. Is it the same as the transmission filter?I cannot find a number for it or anything wanted to order one online today and get it on its way. I have drained the transmission all three drain plugs and am going to run some diesel thru it.and then clean the transmission screen. Do I take the power steering pump off the side to clean a filter on it? THANKS ALL |

| | I have removed the power steering pump and removed the strainer tube attached to the pump. Is the screen part of the tube suppose to have a "hole about the size of a pencil in the end of the screened tube? It has a magnet inside the screen part and up the tube part where it attaches to the pump. But, I don't know if it is suppose to have the "hole" in the end cap of the screened in tube. Hope that makes sense. |

| mine didnt have a hole or magnet in the bottom, there was a small plug or cap in the end. im assuming maybe they removed it and put in the magnet seems like a good idea. fyi, gasket for that ps pump is obsolete, iused gasket maker. |

| just finished going thru mine, picked it up in the fall. part # for upper p.s.filter is 185541m1 it is a cork or hard material style. it is NOT same as trani filter. definitely pull off lower ps pump on right side of tractor and clean intake screen. there is an o-ring in upper corner(inside)on housing plate so make sure it doesnt get munged up. not sure where i got filter, either local dealer found or i did parts search on tractorhouse.com. good luck scott |
