looking at a mf-135, gas. seems to run pretty good. has a good rear blade and chains. also a prehistric FEL that is not up to much. loader is lite but even with power steering and nothing in the bucket it steers hard. is this parr for the course? wants $3000 for the tractor? |

| Hello Brian, Have you checked the condition of the king pin thrust bearings? If the correct loader is fitted it should not make any major difference to the load needed to turn the steering. If the loader is fully raised it will be easier to turn than if it was half way. Check the tyre pressures. For normal duty loader work there should be between 35 and 35 psi in them. If the thrust bearings are worn (photo-extreme case) the bearings will be ineffective. A gap of up to about 1/8" will indicate worn but servicable bearings. Look for any signs of grease reaching them. The bearings shown in the photo had collapsed. This MF 240 did not have a loader fitted.....but neither were they greased.!!!! DavidP, South Wales |

| | my 135 has "power steering", basically helps the steering wheel turn, works pretty good my 202 has real power steering, there are hydraulic clyinders mounted up front on the arms that move the wheels suspect the extra weight of the loader may be the problem, the 135 adjustable front end wasn't designed for much loader work terrific tractor |
