What is the make up of Permatran? Like is it 15W40 or what?
This 'lighter' oil (15W40) is in nearly every working Massey Ferguson in Europe and we really do work them, I have done contract (custom) work with one tractor that has over 30,000 hrs on it. It is a 1976 tractor and the only rear end problems was it needed rings and one plate in the ipto unit about 5 years ago. The wet brakes are coming near the end of adjustment, but are not real snatchy or anything like that and there is a slight rumble in reverse, but it is still working away. So I am in a position to say it is OK to use 15W40. You will have instant hydraulic power in cold weather also!
