Hi all, just today when trying to make a tight turn the bolt that is threaded into the bottom of my steering arm sheared off and the drag link fell out. (I think I'm using the right terms??) Now most steering arms i see listed online are not fully enclosed like mine with that bolt treaded into it, they are open and have a nut on the other side. Is this going to be a tough part to find? I do have the front hydraulic pump. Was thinking for now to just get someone with a portable welder to put a bead around to get me by and in the future i'll look into parts.

Any info would be great, Thanks

Well I found out today that the steering arm is no longer available from AGCO or the aftermarket. So i guess i'll be out in the cold this weekend with the generator drilling out the broken bolt and using an easy out and trying not to wreck the treads. I'll just order a replacement inner tie rod end.

Might be worth pulling off that steering arm, and seeing if you can weld a nut onto the broken piece and back it out. I think I recall having that problem once many years ago.
Pulled out an old Quality Tractor catalog and found part number 27881-020,replaces Massey part number 186077M92, adjustable inner drag link stem. phone 888-828-3276. Don't know it they're still in business.

this is the bolt that broke up inside the other part it goes into which connects to the power steering actuator. the bolt broke up inside the part with the unknown name about 5/8 - 7/8" up inside. not sure how i would get it out?

VT, did the 165 you posted out have foot control? I'm looking for the accelerator cross linkage that goes across the top of the engine with the quadrant on the end for foot control.

I would drill thru that bolt and replace it. No
need to look for parts that will be expensive.
The set up you have is what it should be. Chuck

It would be hard to drill through that bolt and re-tap the threads while the steering link is on the tractor. Also getting a tap that size would just meen me going to a machine shop. It's funny how it works most i've seen it's a through bolt but on this one it has a closed end. was hoping if i had it welded for now that in the future i could replace it with the style that is a through bolt with a nut.

thanks for your reply

Is your an English 65?
Mine is, and has the same steering set-up as yours.

Don't think it's English? Pretty sure it's Detroit Michigan. It's the industrial version though, but an early one at 1959.

Have not been able to get a picture yet or find the same one for sale online. hoping switching to the other style won't be a problem
