I can put my hands on a rebuilt 226 continental out of an 44-6. Sound nice but the 44-6 has no hyd! [Reply]   [No Email]

If you put a 44-4 ( Continental 260 ) in it you need the use the 44 radiator and bellhousing. If you use the 6 cylinder you need the radiator, bellhousing and face the hydraulic problems. Trying to rebuild the stuck 333 engine could be costly because of parts. If you are mechanically inclined, I would suggest pulling the head and oilpan off to see what you are up against. If you are lucky you may get by with a new set of rings and maybe some bearings. If the sleeves are worn or pitted you may need look at your other options. If you decide to trying rebuilding the existing I do have a few new and used 333 parts laying around. Email me if you are interested. Thanks Jeff [Reply]  [No Email]

Engine and bell housing bolt right in, you have to shorten the clutch output shaft and get new splines put on it, original coupler lines right up.333 12 volt starter bolts right on and works with the 6 cyl flywheel. I used the 44-6 throttle right from the steering wheel on down. 44-6 radiator with the 333 hydraulic tank and the 333 hood. lay the 44-6 hood over the 333, mark and cut new holes and weld old ones shut.I used the 44-6 gas tank cause the mounts fit the 44-6 bell housing with some spacers. I mounted a hyd. pump under the radiator and run it with a home made drive shaft off the crank pulley. You could also use a hyd pump off a Massey 30, from a 162 flat head 4 cyl, they use the same front cover, I think it will fit!! Never tried one though, have to check it out. Have over two thousand hours on mine, it has been flawless. It's my main hay baling tractor, that sweet running 6 cyl with a 10 speed and live power, don't get any better than that!!
