I have noticed after i let my MF 50 sit for a week in the cold and then go to run her it will spit and sputter some, and wont stop even when warmed. i do some readjusting on the carb and drive it around and after a while things seem to smoth out. if i start it later in the day all is fine and dandy. but 2 weeks later i go to start it and the same thing happens. I have a completely rewired this tractor, it has a fresh tune up including all components, plugs, wires, cap rotor, points condensor, etc, just to get that out the way. I rebuilt my carb last weekend and my feul supply seems good, with good gas. When she sputters i pull the choke closed slightly to enrich and she sputters worse showing me its not lack of fuel...any ideas, maybe a weak coil? |

If you have changed all your electrical coponents and your sure everything is right there better pick on the carburator, play with your fuel mixture screw or make sure it is sealed right on manifold as well

Check the spark. Should be FAT AND BLUISH-WHITE, the color of lightning.

Most of the time a coil run's OK when cold. Sound's like maybe moisture in cap.

Maybe pull the plugs after 2 weeks and after trying to run and check for oil leaking from head.May need a valve job. Check compression too.
