Well this saga finally came to an end… and the culprit was… the manifold. After installing a new manifold, Fergie ran like a new engine should be… no misses, start at half click. In my early posts I mentioned that the problem occurred over night. Well maybe it was not the case, I just did not noticed a gradual change. I was so involved in repainting the tractor and refurbishing the external hydraulics that I just didn't pay attention.
The removed manifold didn"t really look too bad. It was warped maybe less than a 1/32" outward at the exhaust side, but I think the gasket would have taking care of that.. or not. The gasket appears to be okay.
Anyway I want to thank everybody for sharing all your tips and invaluable experience that normally are not found in books.

P.S. If I would not have resolved this issue in a reasonable time, I would have been tempted to hook up Henry and go green tractoring… but Henry probably would have had a different opinion. Cheers.

I forgot to add a piece of information that may help others. When mike paulson first suggested to spray carb cleaner at the manifold, I did it with the spout in place, and nothing happened. Then the next day I realized that I was spraying liquid and it was not vaporizing enough to enter the manifold. So I sprayed without the spout… and boom…Action!
Of course all the tips I received were valid, but the one that led me to the my specific problem was the manifold spray. I have remember this one.

How did you find the quality of the manifold you got? I ordered one a few months back for my 202 and had one heck of a time just getting it to the point where I could install all the bolts. There was extra metal left over from casting which I had to grind out with an angle grinder and a die grinder. I had to enlarge the areas where the bolt heads went so I could fit a socket over them. All in all it was a very poor quality replacement part but it was necessary 'cause my horizontal exhaust system was knocked down and I backed up and snapped it right off!

I got one from ebay for $141.00 ship free. Mine fits perfect, I guess I lucked out. What I like about the new one that the old didn't have, is that the exhaust flange has 3/8'" threads and came with flat head phillips screws which are a lot easier to install than nuts and bolts. I guess the old one had to be modified at some point.

Nice donkey. Is that your tractor or a photoshop thing? The reason I ask is that it looks like it has the workbull grill with ag paint. The harness and poles all seem to match well with the tractor too.

Okay, I confess I'm a Photoshop buff. The donkey was added and manipulated little bit, but the work bull is 100% real. I just finished the total paint job including the loader. Before this, it had an old faded industrial yellow. Man, it was ugly, I just couldn't stand it.
This tractor has few remaining small issues, but I 'm getting to it one by one.

Thnaks for posting the results. I had been following the thread. Great pic. I have had to hitch draft horses to a DOA Ford in a field to get it back in before.
