I have no experience with Massey tractors whatsoever but am looking at a 2745. Can anyone give me any info on this tractor, how well does it stand up, how fuel efficient, etc.

Thanks for educating me..

Make sure you run it before you buy it. If it has the 24 speed make sure it works right. The shifts are normally a bit harsh, but it should engage well and not feel like any thing is dragging. If it is still running well at this age there is a good possibility that the trans had been fixed/updated. Just remember to pay for a disposable tractor. I have a 2805 that I use around here. For what I paid for it, I can go buy another one if it takes a dump on me.

I have some suspicions about some of the trans failures. A friend that worked for a dealer told me that one day they ran a 2805 up to 450 hp on the dyno, that was the limit of the dyno, and I suspect would do in the tranny pretty quick.

Hello! The 2000 series MF tractors were not one of Masseys better designs! The engine in the 2745 was a 540 cu.in.V8 just like the MF 1155 built prior. Engines were fantastic! Does this tractor your looking at have the forbidden 24 speed tranny in it!? If it does I would run, not walk the other way! If it has the 8 speed tranny then its worth taking another look at! We've had both a MF 2775 and 5 MF 1155's(currently own 3)and hands down our MF 1155's have performed flawlessly through the years with minimal down time! We put 10,000hrs on one of them without touching the engine! I would rather see you buying a good 1155 before the 2000 series! The 2000 series is what put a bad taste in farmers mouths for massey and almost bankrupt Massey Ferguson Corporation! Good luck Luke
