We have had this problem for awhile with our 1080 and I thought it might be about time to ask for help.

The tractor used to start great, even in the coldest days of winter, but now, it clicks once or twice and then it starts hard as if the battery is low. We have had to charge the battery numerous times and actually bought another one. Any idea on how to fix this problem?

Thanks ahead of time for your inputs.

And when you get this all done if it still acts up, replace the neutral safety switch. I've had to replace several on 180's and 1080's. Good luck!

We replaced the battery cables. Corrosion on the crimp connectors did the same thing to ours.

I had the same problem on my 1085 the other day. Disassemble all connections on the starter and solenoid and clean all mating surfaces thoroughly with a wire brush and emery cloth. Them the same with all battery connections. Check fuses and fuse holders on the dash for corrosion. Check and clean all connections on starter relay up above engine under hood.
Mine has a copper bar from the solenoid to the starter, and that is where I found the most corrosion. I find I need to clean that one twice a year, mostly because of dissimilar metal corrosion.
