I welded a small piece of expanded metal flat to the top of the pedal itself.
Even with that my foot will slip sometimes when pushing the pedal down because of the straight downward motion.
Has anybody modified the pedal itself to keep from slipping like this?
Thats the one thing I dont like about Massey"s.
Thanks

Neighbor was having that problem with his 165. I guess he went low tech and just wrapped the pedal with that sandpaper like stair tread self adhesive stuff.

in your 1st picture you can clearly see that there isnt much of a "roughness" or "grip" to the top of the pedal and that I think is why, depending on your shoes, your foot wants to slip off sometimes (JMO) and why that was welded on there to help compensate.

I have never had that problem and I have put in thousands of hours in the seat, but every one is different...Above is a modification that was done to a tractor sent to me for restoration, of course I cut the extension off and restored the pedal ( 2nd pic)
There must have been reports of problems as the later tractors used a different pedal with an upturned end as on a later 165 (3rd pic) or a later 135/240 (4th pic)

I drilled a few 1/8" holes in the outside edge of the pedal, and put in 1/8" bolts from the underside, with square nuts on top, the bolt sticking up about 1/8" beyond the nut. It provides just enough grip to keep my foot from sliding.
I also put a few into the platform underneath, so I don"t slip of.

I have seen some pedals with a small piece of 1"x1"x1/4" angle, the width of the pedal, welded onto the outer edge. This tends to act as a stop, and hinders your foot from "sliding" sideways off the pedal,
Evan.

I've used 7018 welding rod on low voltage to make slip-resistant surfaces.

That rod sticks on low voltage rather than burning, and when you break it free it leaves a rough dimple. A bunch of those points works wonders.

You can get really fancy and arrange them in a geometric pattern, but I didn't.

If you're doing in to a clutch pedal on the tractor, be sure to attach the ground clamp to the clutch arm proper, so the current won't flow through any bearing surfaces. It can cause pitting, and lead to failure.
