165 Hydraulic No Action

Massey 165 was working good when shedded in fall. Now the lift will not make any attempt to work. the fluid level is ok. I have tried both levers in all positions still no action. Any suggestions?

You may have a stuck control valve within the lift pump.
I suggest drain off around 2 gallons of rear end oil. Now remove the round side cover on the RHS of the differential housing, (this is behind the cover marked "response").
Now place the draft lever in the rear (raised) position, and operate the position lever on the quadrant from the lowered to the raised position. You should see the "walking beam" moving towards the front. This, in turn, moves the pivoting control valve lever.
If no movement is evident, try moving the control valve lever by hand. Some resistance will be felt. The linkage should lift when the lever is moved frontwards. This should "free" the control valve, (if it is jammed).
If the walking beam coming down from the hitch cover does not move, there is a problem with the cover adjustments or links. The cover will need to be removed and repairs carried out as necesary.
let us know the results.

Apologies, had yesterday's MF 65 hydraulic problem in the back of my mind. The reverse applies to this model, as to the direction of the control valve movement. But a sticking valve would still be my guess.

I loaded it up today and took to a fellow who repairs all makes in his farm shop. He did business with me when I was in business selling steel and welding supplies. In those days when he left we were both happy. He is honest, knows his stuff abd works hard. I will let you know what he finds. He did use the word "Dump Valve"
