mf 204 transmission troubles instant reverse

i have had the mf 204 apart and rebuilt the motor and put it back in and now the tractor moves fine in reverse but lunges when in forward direction and need ideas on what i can check the fluid is fine i topped it of with type a trans fluid and the transmission shifted fine before the motor was redone all help and ideas are greatly appreciated thanks

Did the re-connection of the engine & transmission go O.K.?
No "forcing" the sections back together with pulling bolts, or brute force?
If all is well there, maybe look at the foot pedal linkage, for any "binding", or tight spots. Have someone visually check the linkage, while engaging forward to reverse, and back, SAFELY, in neutral, of course.
Do you have a manual for the machine?

the motor went back in easy and just to make sure thier were no problems i put the torque converter back in first and let it lock in and then installed the motor and i do have a factory manual but it covers trans rebuilding only and no trouble shooting steps

Ok, check for binding foot pedal linkage first. The little shaft entering the transmission case, can stick from lack of lubrication at times. Visually make sure it is free.
see what you find.
