Did MF 50's come with Standard Diesels?

Got my eye on a pretty nice, original 50. It's diesel, but it just doesnt "look" like a Perkins to me. Of course, it pre-dates any Perkins I would have ever seen. I've heard to stay away from the Standards. Anything in particular to look at on this tractor?

No such thing as a Ferguson F40 diesel....So in that regard, the MF50 diesel is NOT "pretty much the same a Ferguson 40"

I'm thinking the early MF50's had an indirect injection version of the 3-cyl Perkins, later to change to direct injection..??????

I said the tractor is the same as a Ferguson 40.
After Massey Harris and Ferguson Merged the 40 became the 50 with different engine options.

The Massey Harris 50 was the same as the Ferguson 40. When the model lines were merged under the name Massey Ferguson, it remained as the 50.

I know the differences between the 3. (I OWN one of each, the F40 and MF 50 have been in the family since new)

Fact remains, there was NEVER a diesel F40, so a diesel MF50 is not, and never was the "same as a Ferguson 40"

It should be a 3-A-152 Perkins. All MF 50 diesels were indirect injection. Direct injection came on the 100 series tractors. Dave

Here is a MF 50 with a A3.152 Perkins 1962 model.
