Disappearing power steering fluid

I have a 202 Massey Ferguson industrial tractor that I've put
over a gallon of power steering fluid in and it still doesn't show in the pump housing , does anyone know where all this
Fluid going. I know it must leak or I wouldn't have to add fluid
Since I put the fluid in I haven't seen any bad leaks, nothing
that would leak out a gallon of fluid .I was told these systems
Didn't hold a lot of fluid.Does anyone know how much this system should hold.

Maybe you are loosing it into the base, have you tried checking the oil level of the engine oil? There is an oil seal in the front of the pump to keep oil out of the engine.

my friend had a old case 530 backhoe and it would loose power steering fluid,

the fluid would go into the motor,

we would just drain out a qt and add it back to the power steering reservoir, system worked great for years.

it was very hard to repair the seal on that old power steering pump which was part of the motor block.

I don't think it would be a good idea to mix motor oil and power steering fluid for a long period of time. I would worry about damage, especially to the engine and engine bearings. They make different oils for different applications for a reason, if not we would be using the same oil in everything.

once we figured out the problem we just used motor oil in the power steering system so the motor oil would not be contaiminated.

when he sold the old tractor the steering was still working fine.

I have a MF30E Industrial w/Perkins 3 cyl. Diesel. There is a gasket that goes between the P/S pump and the motor as it is gear driven. It may be leaking past the P/S seal/seals. Just a thought.
