Difference in combine tractor governor?

Hello. About to change a combine motor into tractor having same engine. My question is: what's the difference between the two governors?
Do they come from factory totally different? Why can't one be adjusted to run the same as on other engine? Thanks, Sam

What makes and models? Gas or diesel? Pictures of both setups, and descriptions of the problems you've discovered? If you start a new thread with those little tidbits, someone will probably jump in to help.

I don't know what model you arte working on. I put an 860 combine engine in an 1155 and I had to change everything on the outside. Pump and governor were totally different. Changed flywheel, oil pan, intake & exhaust manifolds, water pump, timing cover, auxerley drive and pump. Also, since the engine was newer than the tractor, I had to have a front pulley modified to turn the hyd. pump. the tractor had a splined crankshaft and the combine had a keyed crank. I don't think they made a keyed pulley with bolt holes for a front pump. My next project is installing a 318 out of a 540 combine in a Super 90. It looks easy too.

Not to hijack the thread, but Mike, I'd like to talk to you (or rather I know someone who should).. A very good friend bought a running 540 Perkins from a salvage 760 combine..

He bleeds Massey, and his intent was to put the engine into either one of his multiple 1155's (he has one that the engine was torn down and sat outdoors.. or something to that extent) or into a 1150 that has a stuck engine, but there was the problem of the front pulley/crank that you mentioned, and he's been trying to figure out how to fix this issue shy of swapping the crank.. since you did it/ had it done, you could be a help to him.

Is there somehow he or I can get ahold of you? I know he don't do the internet, but I can relay on what he has to do to make it work.

Feel free to email me if you'd like [email protected] or please reply and we'll go from there.

Thanks very much in advance,

Brad
