Distributor Help

MF202, Z134 Continental engine.
I need a source for a rebuilt distributor, MF part # 182 852 M1. I searched and searched online, but I'm drawing a blank. I can find one or two sources for a new one, but I don't really want to invest that much, specially because it is a borderline case. (Shaft has side play of .008"-010", engine misses below 1000 rpm)... and yes, everything else has been pretty much eliminated.
I took the distributor to the local Massey shop, but they can't find a source for the bushing. I am thinking a bushing is a bushing, it shouldn't be too hard to find one.
If I can't find a rebuilt distributor, maybe I'll try to take the old one apart and see If I can find and replace the bushing. I never did work on one before, but there is always a first time.
Inputs are welcome.

My 202 had a miss or sputter below 1000rpm or in that range and replacing the manifold gasket helped with that. I realize that is not what you were asking for and maybe you have already covered that but it might be worth a look if you haven't.
Regarding your distributor, I know there are a variety of different materials used to make bushings. McMaster Carr has a good assortment of bushings made from various materials, www.mcmaster.com . You may also be able to get someone to machine you a new bushing if you can't find one the right size. There have to be plenty of used ones around but there's nothing saying they won't be as worn or more worn than yours is.

Most auto electric shops can rebuild the distributor and they generally make the bushing to fit. Many times the shaft is worn and so they turn that and then custom make the bushing to fit. It"s cheaper than a new or rebuilt distributor. I believe you have a Delco 11XXXXX distributor on that engine.

I had my TO-30 distributor rebuilt about 5 years ago by an outfit in Portland, OR. It cost $100 plus shipping and they also checked the advance mechanism.Their name is a The Philbin Group and their email address is www.philbingroup.com. If you can"t find a local autoelectri shop that can do this simple job, try Philbin.

Thanks Jerry. I just sent Philbin an email. There are no indications on their site that they take old distributor for rebuilding... but we'll see.

NC,

Try to get yours rebuilt,

I ordered a rebuilt dis for my To-35 with z=134 engine,
the company sent one (delco remy) but it looked to me like it had a crack in the body so i ordered a new one.

what they send as a new replacement is a Ford 8N distributor that has been machined to fit the Fergy.

Now i have to have points, dis cap for a 8n ford, it works ok.

take yours to a starter, generator shop and see if they can rebuild it. wish i had done that in the first place.
