235 diesel will not start - help

Hi, I have a mf 235 that has the 3 cyl perkins that has always started great. I had a couple of leaks so I pulled the injector pump and took it to a guy to fix it. I put it back on the way it came off since the gear has a dowell pin that goes into the pump. Bled the system well and could not get it to start. finally I decided to pull start it and it started but did not rum right, pulled the throttle down a little and it died. We did this 3 times and it was harder to start each time, the last 2 tines it spit oil through the dipstick. That has never happened. Should I try to pull start it again and hope it clears up? I wanted to check timing marks but the whole front of tractor including front axle has to come off to get timing cover off. Please give me some ideas, thanks, David

When you are trying to start the engine, what does the exhaust look like ? Is it present or not ? Is it white ? White smoke would suggest unburned diesel fuel. (timing issue) No smoke would suggest lack of fuel. Hope this helps.

Many thanks !

Yes, the pump was lined up correctly. I was worried about that and checked myself a couple of times. I have now payed an well experienced mechanic to come look at it and he couldn't get it to run. He thinks there is something wrong inside of the pump. It tries to hit a little on wide open throttle and nothing half and down. Like it isn't no fuel pressure. This is still like speculation. So I had a tractor that ran great and leaked fuel, had leaks fixed and now it will not even start. I can for the most part figure things out, but I am like a ball in tall weeds right now
