This message is a reply to an archived post by Guyotsmith on February 22, 2007 at 13:28:49. The original subject was "Re: Chilean Soda Advertising".
I stumbled on this site while trying to locate information about several radio shows in the 20's 30's and 40's. Last February Guyotsmith wrote the following which has now been archived:"My grandmother was hired to write a syndicated radio series, UNCLE NATCHEL, sponsored by Chilean Nitrate, in the late '30s and ending in 1942. It amazes me that no 16" radio transcriptions of the series have ever turned up in the possession of old-time radio devotees. Frank Wilson, a noted African-American radio actor, portrayed Uncle Natchel. The shows were recorded on disc in New York, through NBC's facilities, and were syndicated throughout the South. The programs were essentially historical fiction, as Uncle Natchel would tell the youngsters stories about legendary American figures and events. It would be wonderful to hear one of those programs today. I wonder whether any of today's Uncle Natchel memorabilia collectors are aware of the radio series?" A friend told me that some of his aunts and uncles sang on radio shows, including "Uncle Natchel" and something like "Hill billy heart throbs." Does Guyotsmith know anything about that? Or anyone else. Its real hard to find anything about them. |

| I sure wish there were copies left of the Uncle Natchel & Sonny Radio Show. I collect anything with Uncle Natchel & Chilean Soda. I do have a postcard, advertising the show, listing the station and times. |
