Are there any differences in the model itself or the packaging that help identify the Franklin Mint Precision M from the original Precision M? |

| | If you're talking about the original Ertl Precision M, it is 1/16 scale, as the Franklin Mint items are 1/12 scale. Stan |

| Franklin Mint sold the 1:16 Precision M (made by Ertl) after the original Ertl was "retired". Both versions are bought and sold by collectors and being relatively new to toy collecting, I would like to be able to tell the differences between them and/or their packaging. |

| | Well, I think you are referring to Hamilton Authenticated, who bought up the Ertl Precisions after they had reached their peak in sales. I do not know how to tell the difference in packaging, and I doubt there is any. Either one will still be a "Precision". I do know that the John Deeres sold by Ertl were called "Precision Classic" and all the others (IH, A-C, Ford, etc) were just called "Precision" I will stand by my statement about Franklin Mint items being 1/12 scale. They do some great work, but I think Ertl has the market tied up with copyrights for 1/16 precision tractors. I'm looking at an ad in the November Toy Farmer for Hamilton Authenticated, and I see no mention of the term "Precision Classic". Again, I don't know what the packaging says. Good luck in learning more than I know. I've only been doing this for 15 years, and I have a lot to learn. Stan |
