4020 Deluxe Seat Rebuild - Nylon Rollers

Just got done rebuilding 4020 deluxe seat with kit and complete shock assembly from steiner ... everything was easy and straightforward except the new nylon rollers in the kit were too small of a diameter to fit on the axle studs ... if driven on they wouldnt roll ... ended up reusing old rollers as they weren't that bad and didnt have another option ... started to drill the new ones out to enlarge holes but thought I would get opinions on other peoples experiences with those rollers ... maybe they were just generic and wrong size and need to be drilled out ... thanks

Dunno why you'd buy generic parts from a site that competes with our gracious hosts, then come over here to complain?

AFAIK, the parts in question are sill available through your local DEERE dealer and MAY fit better than those offered by the purveyors of chinese parts.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I don't recall complaining about the parts
from Steiner in my post, just wanted to see
if anyone had issues with nylon roller fit
in general.

Unfortunately, the last 2 fenders I ordered
from here were made overseas and were
mismatched ... so I now have 2 different
fenders on my 4010 ... fool me once shame
on you...

My experience on the forums here has been good so far. I have gotten good advice and have posted my solutions to other peoples questions.

I didnt realize you couldnt use these
forums unless you bought all your parts
from YT.

Thanks again for your valuable insight!

mtb34, I think you will find that most of us don't get all huffy over where you get your parts.

It always seems to be a struggle getting kits where everything fits, most likely comes from the fact that the people approving the manufacture of the parts don't have to deal with installing them.

It's better than having loose rollers like you have, I think the last ones from Deere were just as loose as the old ones. So this way you can tighten the seat up a little. Unless there are multiple drivers, I
would just get the bushings to fit and with driving should loosen up. Once I used starter bushings to tight one seat up, since the bushings were really loose. chris

Not sure if tight or loose makes a huge difference but get them shimmed out to fit fairly tight in the track so you do not get any twisting or side to side rocking in the assembly. I have bought a few kits from Ebay and never had any issues. A&I carries the rollers as well. Tom

Thanks for everyones feedback. I am going to take a 1/2 drill bit and ream the rollers out a bit and see if I can get them to rotate. They were so tight I had to tap them on with a hammer and they werent going to roll at all which seems like it would be bad to just let them wear on one side from the rail sliding on them.
