4020 3pt slow to respond when lifting

When lifting my snow blower with my 3pt, it will not start to lift immediately. It will start to lift as it gets close to the top of the lever range around 3 or 4 and will be just a bit off the ground and will creep up as I move. At times it will creep up all the way. I am unsure what is the cause. any suggestions??

How long since hyd filter was changed and trans sump screen checked/cleaned? I'd also suggest checking stand-by psi and set it to 2350 psi. Photo is of powershift trans filters but screen location is the same for syncro-range trans.

Been through something similar with my 3020. First do as Islandgreen said... check the draft control lever making sure it is in the D position. What you describe is typical if the lever is in L or LD. It senses draft conditions on the lift arms & makes changes to the rockshaft position seeming to have a mind of its own if in LD and even more so if in L.

If the draft control lever is in D ("D" for depth) and it misbehaves, post back. Have seen assembly problems with the rockshaft position cam follower also cause such problems.

Agreed. Mine had been incorrectly assembled in its past. The follower on the rockshaft's position cam was NOT between the washers when the guy before me put the valve housing back on. That let the follower fall off the left side of the cam between the cam & the rockshaft housing never to move again. Miraculously nothing broke or was bent though the rollers and washers were quite chewed. New rollers, pin, washers and E clip along with proper assembly and subsequent adjustment made it work quite nicely!

It had me most puzzled until I took it apart. timing appeared perfect but function was all wrong. It would raise in perfect time if you shoved the lever all the way forward. Same with the drop function HOWEVER even in D mode it would quickly fall ALL THE WAY if moved back beyond 3. Not right! It had an almost neutral zone between 2.25 & 3 where it would almost sit still. ALMOST. It would creep up or down taking about 6 minutes to make the full trip. It was either rising or falling very slowly in that zone! I wondered if the levers were too tight (not positively closing) so I loosened one about a quarter of a flat. Figured it wouldn't hurt since it didn't work anyway.

I used to use an early styled A to grade my lane because the lift was much more precise and steady. After these repairs.... the 3020 (wide front helps too) now owns the job of grading the lane!
