From the Local Paper.
"WALPOLE, NH- The R.N. Johnson Inc. website proclaims it's one of the four oldest John Deere dealers in the world.
That distinction ended on Monday when representatives from John Deere arrived at the Walpole business and ended their 84-year-old relationship.
John Deere employees removed its machines off the property on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"That field was full of John Deere equipment," said Johnson, motioning toward a field with one John Deere machine sitting in it Wednesday afternoon.
John Deere has been threatening to pull out its dealership for the past 10 years, he said. John Deere is not interested in dealing with the small business owner any more as a dealership, Johnson said."
I hope they don't take any more dealerships away or we won't have anyone in this area of Northern New England. They served New Hampshire, Vermont and North Western Mass and probably more.

| I just heard about this most recent closeing and my heart goes out not to only the owners of R.N. Johnson but to all of its employees and the huge custom base it created over 80 plus years of dedication to there parent company. It appears to me that large corporations do not care about these family owned businsesses that made the companies what they are today. I feel shareholder value should be second to customer satisfaction. My observation of todays customers opinion of corporate Deere is very low |

| So sorry to hear this. I have bought many parts from them and they have always been very accommodating. Old equipment reminds me of better times when you could walk in to a dealership and the owner was there to greet you and asked what he could do to help you. Today one man owns nine mega dealerships and you have no idea who he is. You pay over $200,000.00 for a new tractor and they won't fill the fuel tank. They say that they buy in volume and pass the savings on to the customer but I have not seen that trickle down effect yet. I offered to let them put one of my restored tractors in their showroom for "John Deere Day" and was promptly told that they don't sell old tractors. |

| It is a shame they pulled our old IH dealer's CaseIH contract a few years ago and the next closest CIH dealer has 5 stores now and the service isn't as good as it used to be. I price parts around now since they try to gouge on some parts. They can be as much as twice as much as another dealer on the same part. Competition is the solution for that crap, but that may be why they are consolidating. |

| Yeap, they have a take it or leave it attitude now on them high priced parts.
The local big corp JD dealer used to stock 2.5 gal jugs and 5 gal jugs of oil, antifreeze now they always seem to be out but are quick to sell the little quarts. I ask them when are they going to get some bulk sizes in and they just shruge the shoulders. It's ALL about maximizing profit with these tractor dealers over anything else these days. |

| THe JD dealer in Western MA, Sirum Equipment, also had their dealership pulled last summer. I have bought a fair amount of parts from Sirum's and it seemed to me the writing was on the wall for a few years. Very little new equipment, none of the old stuff moved, and it kept getting harder to get parts. I also bought some parts through R.N. Johnson and had been up there once or twice and seemed kind of like the same thing. I think Sirums was a JD Dealer for 50+ years and R.N. was very proud to be one of the oldest dealers in the US. |

| Why is John Deere doing this? My favorite dealer got sold this last year it"s still a good dealer they have about any part I ever need on hand and there prices are cheaper than my local dealer they are both mega dealers with over 12 dealerships the other dealership I deal with only has 3 stores and I know the owner He"s really nice when I see him there working that dealer is 80 miles away but they have a mechanic that comes this way every day and brings the parts with him . Maybe they want to go back to the branch house days and there will only be 5 or 6 dealers in the country |

| it sickening to see this. We lost our local about 5 years ago as the larger dealer said they had to go. Haven"t seen 1/10 as much green stuff. I by passed the other store and went to a larger store and just have them ship items. They are friendly I just don"t understand management as I"ve been in business 32 years and is contrary to any understanding. |

I was looking through some paperwork this week and saw all the old receipts from just 10 years ago. I was a little sad when the 10 or so mom/pop type dealers that you could stop by to get a part and shot some bull are now owned by a single big corp. :( |
